14 Weeks

Still not much going on in our world. Guess that's not all bad huh? I have my 16 week check up in just about a week. I'm 1 week behind and will be 15 weeks tomorrow. I'm really trying to get better and that way maybe EVERY Thursday when I start a new week I can blog that same day. (Maybe wishful thinking, but its worth a shot. ;) ) My mom and I went shopping around today. Looking at furniture and "stuff." We had never been in Buy Buy Baby and believe me there is alot of cute things in there. I haven't bought anything yet (even something neutral) just because I would love to be able to know the sex before I go splurging because I think once I start, it will be hard to stop. Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Your baby's the size of a lemon!
At 3.4 inches and 1.5 ounces, he's almost doubled in weight since last week and keeps on growing. He's probably sucking his thumb and wiggling his toes in there!
His kidneys are making urine, and his liver and spleen are doing their jobs, too.

13 Weeks

This week I am still feeling wonderful! Still bouts of nausea in the shower in the morning, but no trips to the bathroom. I have noticed that lately when I am asleep at night, that my dreams are becoming weirder and weirder. Some of them are quite frightening (to where I wake up with my mind reeling and cant go back to sleep) and others that I just find odd and amusing. I know that that is all part of this amazing process and the hormones that come with it. Kevin and I also have the special privilege of being able to hear our babies heart beat at home. Thanks to Nikki Runnels she let be borrow her at home Pocket Fetal Doppler from when she was pregnant. Now that it is easy to hear using a Doppler, it is very enjoyable to be able to sit in your own bed and hear this little "peach!" Thanks again Nikki!!

Your baby's the size of a peach!
She's about 2.9 inches long and weighs about .81 ounces, and -- proportion-wise -- her head's now about 1/3 the size of her body. And even though she's still teeny, she already has fingerprints.

Week 12

Week 12 (and Month 3). My second doctor's appointment was yesterday- July 20th, 2011. Because my doctor was out of town, I did meet one of the other doctors in the practice. This is good because in the end it may not be my doctor that is actually delivering our baby. Well, better start meeting and greeting now. =0) The heart rate was 140. She was able to use a fetal doppler this time and hear the heart beat just perfectly! My next check-up is August 17th. I will be 16 weeks then and we will be that much closer to finding out the sex of this little plum!

Your baby's the size of a plum!
The average fetus at 12 weeks is about 2.1 inches long and .49 ounces. Now that he/she has gotten pretty much all her parts, her main job is to keep on growing. He/She is about to enter the growth and maturation stage, in which her organs and tissues will grow and develop rapidly. He/She is now developing her reflexes -- if you poke her body, she'll likely move.
It is also opening and closing her fingers and curling her toes, too.

11 Weeks

Your baby's the size of a lime!
Your fetus is about 1.6 inches long, and she's got about a 1:1 head to body ratio. She now weighs in at about .25 ounces. I cant believe how big the baby has gotten! From a prune to a lime seems like such a rapid spurt.

10 Weeks

Week 10... Well here we are in double digits. Everything is still flowing along as smooth as possible. Sorry if there isn't much for me to write about in each of these earlier belly posts. I took pictures but got behind on the blogging part of it, so its hard to remember (especially with "baby brain" ) what all was going on. I am, however, working my way up to the present so that these posts can get a little better. =) If Kevin isn't there to take my picture sometimes I just go ahead and set it up myself. So, as you can see, I will sometimes have a four-legged helper in the picture.

Your baby's the size of a prune!
Now, she's about 1.2 inches long and weighs about .14 ounces. Her body length will almost double in the next three weeks. The vital organs are fully developed and they're starting to function. Plus, he/she is swallowing and kicking in there. It will be another 8 weeks or so before I get to feel that for myself.

9 Weeks

Week 9 was around the 4th of July! We were celebrating our Nation at the beach. I thought what better way than to have my weekly belly picture in front of the American Flag! I am still feeling GREAT! Only nausea from time to time, but no sickness. Not even really that tired. I guess you can call me, still, one of the lucky ones.

Your baby's the size of a green olive!
She's gaining steam! She measures around .9 inches and weighs about .07 ounces. This is a milestone. Our baby is no longer considered an embryo-- now its a fetus!

8 Weeks

Here we are at 8 weeks (Month 2)!! My first pre-natal appointment was June 22, 2011. I didnt get a belly picture this week but I do have something even better! Ultrasound pictures! Our first images of our little one!

In this one they are measuring the heart. The Fetal Heart rate was 160 bpm. I did ask the nurse if the whole "heart rate" talk was a wives tale or not (that girls HR is >140 and boys are <140) and she said that she has seen little boys heart rates be in the 160s before. So I guess we will have to continue waiting to find out if we have a little boy or girl! =) It was a STRONG heartbeat none the less, which makes us happy!

Here is our little one being measured. The crown to rump length was 1.53 cm.

She said that the little white part closest to the head (towards the left part of the picture) was part of the amniotic sac. Very amazing!!

Your baby's the size of a raspberry!
Now she weighs in (yay!) at about .04 ounces and measures about .63 inches. This week, she's growing about a millimeter each day.

7 Weeks Pregnant

Week 7....Still not much as changed as far as a bump goes. I have already made my first pre-natal appointment and that will be the next week. They like to do the first visit at 8 weeks along. Stay tuned for ultrasound pictures!!!

Your baby's the size of a blueberry!
Your .51-inch embryo doesn't exactly tip the scales just yet but he/she is developing like crazy! This week the baby's brain is becoming more complex and is developing cavities and passages vital for circulating spinal fluid. Also the baby is becoming more defined with lenses of the eyes and middle part of the ear forming. Tiny arms, legs, hands, and feet are also beginning to bud.

6 Weeks Pregnant

Here I am at 6 weeks! I'm standing in what will be the baby's room. We will have an interesting time trying to think of a neat way to incorporate that trim into painting.

Now your baby's the size of a sweet pea!
The average embryo at week 6 is about .25 inches and will double in size again next week. Wow! Basic facial features such as eyes and ears are becoming more developed and the neural groove has closed by this time. Also the heart is starting to pump blood!

How am I feeling?
I couldn't feel better! If it weren't for those 2 pink lines I probably wouldn't know I was pregnant. I am very thankful for that because Ive heard the stories of how sick everyone usually seems to be.

5 Weeks Pregnant

Well I am 5 weeks pregnant! Due to all the excitement, it slipped my mind to get a belly picture so this is all you get. ;)

Deep in your uterus your embryo is growing at a furious pace. At this point, he's about the size of an appleseed and weighs less than .04 ounces, which amazes me, and it looks more like a tiny tadpole than a human. It's now made up of three layers — the ectoderm, the mesoderm, and the endoderm — which will later form all of its organs and tissues. I haven't been pregnant long enough to have experienced much as far as symptoms go.

1+1=3? We're Pregnant!!!!!

On June 1st, 2011 I had a hunch that something was different. Good different of course. It was my off day and I woke up very early, after Kevin had left for work, and took a pregnancy test. I couldn't sleep for thinking about what might possibly happen. I started the test and left the room thinking that our lives could change in the next, LONG, 3 minutes. It was strange because I knew what I wanted to see, but was nervous to see it (if that makes since). I finally went back into the bathroom to see 2 PINK LINES!! I was filled with excitement, anxiety, joy, fear, and love. I couldn't stop looking in the mirror thinking and saying, "No way."

I had all day to finally let it sink in, as much as I could, before Kevin came home from work that afternoon. I decided that I really wanted to involve the dogs in telling him about our joyous news. Our dogs are our first children and I knew that would make it even more special to use them. When my husband got home from work he went and layed on the couch like normal. I sent the dogs in to see him one at a time. I had a sign on each of their necks.... (oh and by the way this was the 1st and Kevin's birthday was the 13th)

I sent Wriggley in first (telling them to "go see Kevin") and his sign read, "Mom has an early Birthday present for you..."

Then, once his interest was peaked, I sent Logan in. His sign read, "But it wont be here for 9 months! I love you! Once he read that sign he processed for a couple seconds and then turned around to look my direction and with a huge smile said "Really"? I nodded my head and said yup we're pregnant! He got up off the couch and we had our moment together.

We are completely, and totally, 100 %, excitedly, nervous, and head over heals! WE'RE HAVING A BABY!!!!!!!
