21 Weeks

Your baby's the size of a banana!
At 10.5 inches and about 12.7 ounces. Wow seems like just yesterday we had an apple seed! =) Now our little boy is as big as a banana! And not far from 1 pound. Amazing!

20 Weeks- The halfway point!

THE HALFWAY MARK IS HERE!! 20 Weeks (Month 5) Wow time flies when you're having a baby....Or something like that. Our little Easton is halfway through baking. In one of my last belly posts (18 weeks) I was unsure of his movements. Boy, has that changed. I feel this little guy flipping, kicking, and jumping around in my belly ALL the time. It really is the most amazing feeling. Also, when we are just sitting on the couch, to look down and see your tummy jump and thump is a real reality shock that there is a little person inside me. Its exciting yet scary all at the same time. So far I am still wearing my same jeans, though they are getting a little snug.

Your baby's the size of a cantaloupe!
Baby weighs about 10.2 ounces and measures about 6.5 inches.
He's got working taste buds.
Now, he's gulping down several ounces of amniotic fluid each day -- that's significantly more than before.

His Name

Kevin and I thought very hard about this of course. A name is something a child will have for their ENTIRE life. We never bought any baby name books, though I did download an app for my phone and went through about 1000 names. We thought for a while there that our baby would probably be a girl for the sole reason that all we had were boy names that we loved. Much to our surprise we were surely wrong. So picking a name was rather easy. I had heard of a country singer named Easton Corbin, very unique and cute (the name =) ), and for the first few weeks of my pregnancy I thought that if it was a boy his name would be Corbin. (Not to be named after the singer but just because I liked the name). As we went on I started to think, what about Easton too? I loved that as much if not more than Corbin. So I asked Kevin, what do you think about if its a boy naming him Easton? And being the sports nut that he is said, "like the baseball bats?" Apparently there is a brand of baseball bats called Eastons. I laughed and said yes. We both agreed and if it was a boy, Easton he became! =)
His middle name was also easy. I wanted something in his name to be named after Kevin. So Thomas was the obvious choice. It turns out that Thomas, in addition to Kevin's middle name, is also his father's middle name, and my grandfather's middle name. I just accomplished naming our first child after both sides of the family. That made me very happy!
Kevin and I are in love with our little miracle and His Name: EASTON THOMAS CROOKS

Something Blue

Well after our doctors appointment on September 7th, to find out the gender, Kevin and I had to rush out and buy something blue for our little man. So this is our first, of many I know, blue outfits. =)

ITS A......

Hello blog followers! For this pregnancy week (week 19) I don't have any belly pictures, but have something better; Sonogram pictures! But wait, not only that, its gender sonogram pictures!!! Before we got to the doctor's office Kevin had been telling me to "drink caffeine." That way we wouldn't get there and he or she have their legs crossed and it would be a little more active. Well I didn't listen and forgot to drink something caffeinated. We got to the ultrasound room and after measuring the head, length, listening to the heart beat (140s and all the other measurements were normal), and even getting to hear the blood flow through the umbilical chord (very cool!), it was time for the moment of truth. The tech moved the camera around and said without hesitation, "OOP ITS A BOY!" We were a little caught off guard because there was no so called "drum roll" she just said it. But we were THRILLED to say the absolute least anyway! We still got to find out the sex of the baby without having to drink caffeine. However, the whole time we were in the ultrasound room (about 25-30 minutes) he kept his face buried in my back. The only draw back is that we didn't get a profile view as an ultrasound picture. Here are a few of the pictures of our little man!!! =)

This is him with his face pointing downward and his little butt up in the air.

Still facing towards my back.

In this one he is almost looking right at the camera. That is one of his eyes at the top and then an arm and hand in the air in the middle.

Here is the picture verifying that we do have a LITTLE BOY!!

The ultrasound tech even tried switching to 4D to see if we could get a profile view. This was the best we could do. Isn't technology amazing?! You can clearly see his face and facial features, and the rest of his body! We are so over joyed at our news and CANNOT wait to meet our little boy in person! God is Good!

Nursery Beginnings!

Well, I guess its about time I start thinking about this little one's nursery. While shopping with my mom, we came across this great dresser at a consignment shop. It was a great price and I was able to talk them down to even lower. All it needs is to be sanded and stained and I have a great dresser for our baby's room. Easy project. All in all I probably saved at least $200-$250!!! Which makes me a happy momma! =)

Lately Ive been checking out this auction house in Calera, on Saturday nights, with a few of my girlfriends from work. They have almost anything you could think of for sale at these auctions. And not to mention its fun too!! This bookshelf is one of the pieces I came across while at the auction. It is a great piece! Real wood and very sturdy. It even has a little "lip" at the front of each shelf to make sure nothing falls out. It just needs to be wiped down with some Clorox and given a new coat of paint. Ta Da! A new bookshelf! Oh and by the way, I got it for just $30!

Stay tuned for the pictures of these 2 pieces once they have been refinished! Cant wait!
